Game viewing in Serengeti National Park is good all throughout the year, but certain areas are better at certain times of the year. If visiting Serengeti in the Peak – Dry season months (from late June to October), Serengeti offers the best wildlife viewing in general – with the wildebeest migration the plains being the absolute highlight. The timing of the migration varies every year (the best chance of seeing it is during June and July) while the wildebeest birthing best seen from late January to February.


WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO VISIT SERENGETI?

June – October considered as the dry season of the Serengeti is best for seeing the wildebeest migrations across the Serengeti plains further Into the neighboring Masai Mara. River crossings can also be experienced; June – July crossing the Grumeti River, and September Crossing the Mara River.

Caution:


  • Much as this is considered the dry season in the Serengeti, it does get chilly in mornings and night – warm clothing is recommended for your morning game drives.
  • Seronera area of Serengeti National Park is usually overcrowded in the Dry Season months Of June – October.

November – December is considered is fairly a good time to visit the Serengeti. There are fewer crowds, and the vegetation is green due to the rains (light and often rains in the afternoons).


THE WET SEASON OF THE SERENGETI

The months of March, April & May are the worst time to visit Serengeti. The roads are slippery and wildlife viewing can be difficult.
