Day By Day Activity Plan for 8 Days Uganda Gorilla – Chimps – Wildlife Safari Holiday


Day 01: Arrival into Uganda via Entebbe International Airport.

Arrive at Entebbe International airport, meet and greet and transfer to your hotel/ guesthouse. If time permits we can visit the famous Entebbe Botanical Gardens.

Accommodation: 

Upmarket: Karibu Guesthouse – Comfortable en-suite rooms – just 10 -15 minutes from Airport – Expect fine dining.

Meal plan: Breakfast Only.

 Day 02: Transfer from Entebbe to  Kibale Forest National Park – Uganda.

Our Journey begins early and we head for Kibale forest national park driving. through the beautiful agricultural countryside where every type of fruit and vegetable imaginable is grown. Upon reaching Kyenjojo, in the lower foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains (Mountains of the Moon), we drive through beautiful tea plantations and eventually into Kibale tropical rain forest.

Day 03: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – Uganda.

This morning we get the opportunity to explore Kibale Forest National Park. Kibale Forest is home to 13 primate species and a guided forest trek can be taken in search of one of the most popular primate species in the world – the chimpanzee. There are 9 diurnal primates, these include, vervet, red‐tailed, L’Hoest’s, blue monkeys, grey‐cheeked mangabey, red colobus, black and white colobus, olive baboon and the most famous of all, the chimpanzee. Although chimp sightings are not guaranteed, the odds are good with the chance of encountering them standing at higher then 90%. This morning you will go on a forest walk in search of primates. Whilst trekking in the depths of the lush green forest, you will be surrounded by bird song and can expect to see at least 5 or 6 other types of primate, most probably the grey‐cheeked mangabey and the red‐tailed monkey and of course the chimpanzee. The walking is fairly easy due to the well‐maintained trails and reasonably flat terrain. This afternoon we have a swamp walk.

Day 04: Transfer from Kibale Forest to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Breakfast and we depart for Queen Elizabeth park, 3½ hours later we reach Queen Elizabeth. on time for check in and lunch at your lodge (choices listed below by category). In the afternoon, your driver guide will transfer you to Mweya Jetty where you will then indulge in a slow moving boat safari on the Kazinga channel.

Day 04: Morning game drive and afternoon transfer to Ishasha Sector.

Breakfast; thereafter we drive to the Kasenyi plains of Queen Elizabeth National park for a morning game drive. Return to your lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, we check out With all our bags and embark on a leisurely drive to Southern Ishasha Sector of Queen Elizabeth National park popular with probably the Best tree climbing lion sightings in Africa.

Drive time(s): Mweya to Ishasha sector = 2- 3hours.

Luxury: Ishasha Wilderness camp.

Midrange: Ishasha Jungle Lodge / Enjojo Lodge

Budget: @ the River Ishasha Camp

Day 05: Transfer to Bwindi Forest.

Breakfast; thereafter check out of your lodge with all your luggage and drive to Ishasha for one last time (ideal if you missed the lion sighting the previous day). Then you will Continue to Buhoma area ( 2 hours away) on time for check in and lunch at the lodge. Afternoon at leisure.

Optional (Not Included in the price):

Alternatively, you may opt to visit Deo’s homestead a community-based project that has devised meaning of living together in harmony with the plant destructive elephants. The community has dug elephant trenches to Stop the elephants from making it to the gardens. A local lunch will be served. Please speak to us about including a visit to Deo’s homestead.

Drive time(s): Ishasha Sector to Buhoma, Bwindi Forest = 2-hours.

Day 06: Gorilla Trekking / Gorilla Habituation experience.

An early Breakfast, you will need to take packed lunch (provided by the lodge), be sure to have at least 02 litres of drinking water with you before you set off for gorilla tracking.

A gorilla Trek for most is the experience of a lifetime. Normally it takes about 5 hours and can be a bit on the rigorous side. We however take into consideration your input and put you with a gorilla family group where the past tracking is the kind that you wish for.

It is best to wear jeans, long-sleeved shirt, boots, hat, and some use garden gloves to pull themselves up on vines or branches, light rain jacket, day pack.

You can hire a porter (extra Cost) – this way you will be assisting a Ugandan family. You can also purchase a tall walking stick that comes in handy for the trek. Read more ” Why use a porter for gorilla trekking ?”

The actual mountain gorilla trek can take approximately 05 hours or more, that includes one hour of being with a Gorilla family.  There are rules of conduct while tracking the gorillas and they need to be followed for the protection of the Mountain Gorillas and for your well-being.

Midrange: Engagi Lodge / Silverback Lodge / Haven Community Lodge.

Budget: Buhoma Community camp.

You can substitute the ordinary 01-hour Gorilla trekking with the more experiential full Day trek /4-hour Gorilla Habituation Experience. The cost for a Gorilla Habituation permit is US$1,500. Accommodation herein mentioned will definitely have to change as Gorilla Habituation is only done in Rushaga and Nkuringo areas of southern Bwindi Forest.

Day 07: Transfer to Lake Mburo National park.

Breakfast; thereafter with all your bags, we check out of the lodge and embark on a drive to Lake Mburo National park – a small park, excellent for birding, antelope and other grazers, one of the only places to easily see Impala and zebra in Uganda. Game drives offer particularly picturesque game viewing with the Parkʹs mixture of savannah, acacia woodlands, grassy valleys, rocky outcrops, swamps, lakes and rolling hills. Herds of impala (found nowhere else in Uganda), buffalo and zebra, plus waterbuck and eland are amongst the variety of wildlife to be seen. Birders will enjoy the Parkʹs 310 recorded water and dry land species. In this valley, we can operate night drives and walks. This is the only park where we will see Impala and Burchellʹs Zebra. It is an excellent place for walking and exploring a nearby Kopje to perhaps see Klipspringer. Game drive to the lodge.

Day 08: Transfer to Entebbe for your onward flight. (END of your 8 Days  Uganda Gorilla – Chimps – Wildlife Safari Holiday)

We head back to Kampala or Entebbe with a stop at the Equator for picture-taking and continue on arriving in Kampala or Entebbe during the early evening hours.
